Latest Knight Rider News...

Well its been a crazy old week so far, the "Knock off for TV Movie" Knight Rider from Universal/NBC is in motion with filming starting yesterday. But this morning, KRUK has been given some exclusive news from the Larson camp.

Greetings my friends of KRUK,

It is my pleasure to inform you that word has come back on the Knight Rider feature film script that was submitted to TWC before the WGA deadline. The good news is that TWC enjoys 80% of the script, with questions/revisions to about 20% of it. This means the bulk of Glen's ideas should remain in tact in a shooting script. The downside is that with 20% needing work, it will still cause the movie to delay shooting.

However this means that it's just that much closer to becoming a reality. When they reach a 100% approval, the movie will officially move into production. It is estimated that the movie will have a 2010 release date. It is my hope we don't have to wait that long but I am making my best efforts to ensure if we fans must wait longer for this movie to hit the screen, there is ample coverage and marketing done to keep the hype alive and make sure the fans remain vigilant to see Glen's vision grace the silver screen.

The movie is officially greenlit and the script has moved into the second stage of production. Once a shooting script is estabilshed, casting will begin, sets will be designed and built and so on.

Great care is being taken to see that the script is solid, the design is top notch, and of course the most thought is put into designing KITT from the get-go, NOT like Knight Rider 2000 where KIFT was made two weeks before the end of principle photography. We're not going to be able to beat the NBCU pilot to the screen but I can tell you what we're going to deliver will be nothing less then what the fans would expect from a re-imagining of the series on an epic big screen scale.

We believe that quality, not quantity will win out over a race to churn out a rushed project. Yes, we beat the WGA strike and unfortunately not to the point of moving right into production but you know anything worth doing especially with a property as popular as this is worth doing right. We're taking every measure we can to make sure we put in the most effort to see KITT's revival from the ashes like a mighty pheonix to the big screen as close to the spirit of the original show as possible.

All of this takes time to find the right people to make this happen in the way it needs to be approached. Expect 2008 to be the year, we hit the ground running on this feature film and don't look back until it's in the can and into post production. It's going to be a long wait but you're in for a real treat if you can just keep that motto in mind, "In Glen Larson We Trust."

Yes, it's a reboot or a re-imagining but it's being done by the man who knows his characters best. The actors, the props, the vehicles, these may change but the spirit lives on. You can't replicate the magic that KITT and Michael's relationship has in the mind of their original creator. Turbo boost sequences, exciting technologies you haven't seen before, the mystique surrounding the formation of the Knight Foundation..it's all going to be here.

You won't have a MBS, you're going to have something even better to reflect our modern age. My personal favorite addition will be the new Super-Speed Mode which will blow away your expectations and leave SPM in the dust.

We are tossing some ideas around that will involve allowing Glen to have more interaction with his fans and give his personal notes/updates/reports on the status of his movie as well as exclusive content you will find announced no where else. Details are too sketchy to go into at the moment and when I have something more solid, I will expand futher on what he has in mind.

I am also working on putting together a Q and A session with Glen exclusively for KRUK simular to what Steve did with William Daniels.

I know you've been patient, all I can ask at this point is that you just keep the faith and wait a little bit longer. This movie is happening, there can be no doubts and it's only a matter of time before things turbo boost into high gear.

One movie can make a difference...one man can make it happen.
